The movements of the sticks are the same movements used in boxing & many other martial arts.
You are actually learning self-defence & attack movements while having fun with sticks. All the strikes and motions of the sticks relate to the same strikes with the hands and feet. The sticks are simply an extension of your limbs.
The stick movements are linked to the three plans of motion of the human body.
Your body doesn’t move in only one dimension; it moves in three dimensions. If it didn’t, you wouldn’t be able to move your leg in all different directions for example.
Our training programs reflect three-dimensional movement and utilizes all the planes of motion in the same manner that the body moves in real life.
There are three different planes of motion: Sagittal, Frontal, and Transverse.
In each plane, several different movements occur at the joints.
The different types of movement that occur within each plane in brief:
The Sagittal Plane – Any forward and backward parallel movement
The Frontal Plane – Any lateral (side) movement
The Transverse Plane – Any rotational movement
